The History of the Fox Bay Civic Association

Fox Bay became a reality December 31, 1957 as the result of the sale of a parcel of land owned by Glen and Lerah Allen and a parcel of land owned by Josephine Perry to the Riverdale Corp. of Wayne County by land contract. The original land contracts contained three clauses; one which provided for the execution of certain restrictions to insure that the area developed into, and then remained, a very desirable community.

Fox Bay began to grow and the Fox Bay Civic Association was formed and incorporated by the State of Michigan on March 22, 1966, with Jerome Knight serving as the first president of the association. Fox Bay’s continued growth was noted by the Pontiac Press (Oakland Press) during July of 1969 when several of the residents of Fox Bay were interviewed and featured in the article appearing in the newspaper.  The original selling agreement set aside a lot on Allen Lake to be used by residents of Fox Bay, but only through legal action by the Association was the current Beach Lot obtained permanently for everyone’s use in 1970. Also during 1970, the Fox Bay Newsletter became Foxy’s News, the Fox Bay Constitution was amended and the Beach Lot pavilion was constructed by residents for use in many future activities including the Annual Summer Social, Family Fun Day, and the Fall Hay Ride parties.  Continued improvements have been made to the Beach Lot, providing an enjoyable place for swimming and having picnics. Concern and participation in Association activities by Fox Bay Families is a necessity if continued growth is to become a reality.  Suggestions and recommendations for continued improvement of Fox Bay are encouraged by the Board of Directors so that the 236 families now residing in Fox Bay may have the very best place in which to live.
